For the Four Year Planning Cycle July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2014

Organizational intent - To Be the Premier Organization of Choice!

Strategic Initiatives Goals under Specific Initiative
1.) Strengthen our network and ties to our communities

a.) Build a parent support group to provide advocacy capacity and support.

b.) Unify WACOSA’s primary message and align marketing strategy and brand to it.

c.) Intentionally identify and broaden our strategic partnerships.

d.) Expand the ways volunteers can be of value within WACOSA. Develop and sustain a volunteer directory to draw from. Match volunteers with "value added" needs within WACOSA.

2.) Strengthen Organizational Culture (we will gain the most value from this goal)

a.) Develop an integrated talent management initiative in WACOSA. Reflect on leadership and supervision "practices" within the senior staff in order to increase engagement and staff initiative. Strengthen two way communication and engagement with staff. Strengthen the capacity to manage conflict and controversy in the admin team.

b.) Strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of all organizational processes and procedures. Redesign processes that involve re-work. Eliminate paperwork and tasks that no longer add value.

3.) Strengthen & Diversify Finances/Revenue

a.) Explore and implement a new business and/or product by July 2012.

b.) Expand current/existing business successes.

c.) Build a workable financial model for unmet consumer needs.

d.) Diversify resource development strategies in fundraising - endowments.

e.) Diversify resource development strategies in fundraising - Fund raising & individual donors.

f.) Create a policy to address the balance between reserves and reinvestment in the organization by fall, 2010.

4.) Strengthen our Capacity to Continually Innovate

a.) Strengthen our ability to adapt to changes and see new opportunities. Assessing, formalizing, and targeting our environmental scans. Increase opportunities for recession driven outsourcing work. Respond to remerging disability needs, i.e. Somali community, Asperger's diagnosis, medically fragile etc. Match organization's structure to adapt to changing client needs. Integrate assessment into relevant areas of WACOSA.

b.) Sustain innovative edge of our curriculum. Close the gap between our desire to be truly a consumer driven service and our current reality. Build/look for opportunities for clients to volunteer in their community (policy & philosophy).

c.) Create an "innovation fund" and policy for discretionary freedom to experiment by July 2010.

5.) Leverage Technology

a.) Increase the use of the database.

b.) Train staff to use the technology we have.

c.) Strengthen technology support within the organization - contract or hire?

d.) Invest in hardware & software.
